Born and raised in the heart of Brooklyn, NY, THARILIS is a dynamic rapper with Puerto Rican and Dominican roots, bringing a fresh yet authentic voice to the hip-hop scene.
From an early age, she showed an undeniable passion for music, writing songs as a child and perfecting her craft with every verse and beat.
Influenced by the rich cultural sounds of her heritage and the raw energy of New York’s streets, THARILIS delivers powerful lyrics with a blend of fierce confidence and emotional depth.
Her music tells stories of resilience, ambition, and self-empowerment, reflecting the journey of a young Latina carving her own path in a male-dominated industry.
With a style that fuses classic hip-hop with modern flows, THARILIS is on a mission to make her mark—not just as an artist, but as a voice for her generation.
Whether she’s spitting hard-hitting bars or crafting melodic hooks, her music embodies the hustle, heart, and heritage that define her.
As she continues to rise, THARILIS is proving that she’s not just another rapper—she’s a movement.
THARILIS is straight out of Sunset Park, Brooklyn. She stayed on the block. It was clutch cause’ everything she needed was right there. Her parents' apartment in the middle, bodega on one end and her elementary school PS 169 on the other! Not to mention, the iconic Sunset Park was just across the street. She remembers playing kickball in the hallways, video games with her friends and always having Hot 97 on blast!
However, that all changed when her parents saved enough money to move to the suburbs of Long Island. Most notably, a town called Baldwin (located in Nassau County). Initially, the move really broke her heart because it meant leaving her close knit community of family and friends behind. This was around the time Notorious B.I.G. passed and Puff Daddy dropped l‘ll Be Missing You, a song she would listen to on repeat to commemorate her love for her hometown.
Baldwin was where many kids from the boroughs relocated. As an outlet for her pain, it was there that she first discovered her gift for writing and crafting poems. They were so good that they blew the minds of both her peers and the adults in her family. Her junior high years involved shooting hoops and dice, chilling with her friends and arguing about how nobody could ever top Jay-Z in the rap game. But high school hit different; she lost her way for a minute, caught up in the lure of fitting in, she experimented with hard drugs. A chapter she doesn’t really care to revisit. On the upside, it was around this time that she was introduced to and explored, a vast array of other musical genres such as trip-hop and alternative rock music. This exposure would broaden her perspective, making her lyrics even more profound.
Changing highschools twice in Long Island, THARILIS finally wrapped up her senior year back in Brooklyn.
Returning to Brooklyn as a young adult was like coming home to her roots. However, this time living near her grandmother in Flatbush. Coming back to Brooklyn brought back a time when life was simpler and community ran deep.
Flatbush‘s energy is unmatched. The caribbean culture, the energy, the constant buzz. From BBQs in Prospect Park to roof parties and street vendors selling the best incense and fresh fruit on the ave, not to mention, killer fashion boutiques, dominican hair salons everywhere, and just kicking it at home with friends vibing to some real music.
It was in that atmosphere that THARILIS found her voice again. Writing poetry as an adult, she felt the presence of something higher guiding her words. Her verses, filled with profound and timeless truths, still echo the streets she grew up in.
All in all, dwelling in both the cities and suburbs of New York made THARILIS a well-rounded individual who can see things from almost any perspective.
ThaRilis is an independent rap artist who specializes in creating music that speaks the truth, staying real in an industry that often prioritizes trends over authenticity.
She’s known for her raw lyricism and fearless storytelling, drawing from her own struggles to connect with listeners on a deep level.
She is most proud of overcoming her self-doubt and finally stepping into music despite the hardships she has faced. What sets her apart is her unwavering commitment to truth, her ability to turn pain into powerful narratives, and her self-sufficiency handling every aspect of her career, from financing her projects to building her brand, completely on her own.
ThaRilis sees the music industry shifting even further toward independence and direct-to-fan relationships in the next five years. With streaming already dominating, she believes more artists will take control of their careers by leveraging platforms like YouTube, Patreon, and independent distribution services instead of relying on major labels.
She also expects a rise in niche audiences, where authenticity and storytelling will become more valuable than mainstream appeal. As AI and technology evolve, independent artists will have more tools to create, market, and monetize their music without industry gatekeepers.
Live performances and exclusive experiences may become even more essential, with artists focusing on unique ways to connect with their fans beyond just streaming. ThaRilis is preparing for this shift by staying true to her message and continuing to build her brand on her own terms.
